Editing - Long v Short Form
When it comes to videography, Simply Wedding Movies will capture your amazing wedding day your unique and special love story, brought to life in a film that will be treasured for years to come.
Imagine the moment your partner sees you for the first time as you walk down the aisle, the romantic stroll through your wedding venue, the laughter and tears during the speeches, your first dance, and those (sometimes!) funny moments on the dance floor. Natural and unobtrusive—memories that will last a lifetime.
So how do you choose the wedding film editing style that will keep you and your guests entertained?
Good question! We’ll keep this simple so you can pick the perfect style for you.
LONG FORM EDIT
Your day would be filmed to your requirements for example, from bridal preparations until the end of your first dance.
We produce an edited and colour-graded traditional wedding film, in chronological order, set to music of your choice. The music must be provided by you in either MP3 or WAV format.
The film typically begins with the bridal party preparations, overlaid with music (you’ll still hear ambient sounds like chatting), followed by clips of guests arriving. The ceremony is included in full, with no music overlaid. Then comes footage of guests mingling and romantic photos alongside your photographer, set to music. The speeches, cake cutting, and first dance are all shown in full.
This film typically runs between 45 minutes to an hour and a half, depending on the length of your ceremony and speeches.
SHORT FORM EDIT
Again, your day is filmed based on your preferences.
This style produces a film between 10 to 20 minutes long.
It’s more cinematic than the long form edit. Only some of your vows and speeches are included in the main film, and not necessarily in chronological order it’s a bit like one of our montages, but much longer. The film is colour-graded, and audio is professionally refined.
In addition to the main film, you will receive your full ceremony, speeches, and first dance as separate full-length videos.
We recommend using instrumental music for this style, and suggest leaving the music choices to the editor for the best results.
It’s also worth noting that the same amount of footage is used in both styles just edited together in different ways.
Either option is included in our pricing. It’s purely down to personal taste which style you prefer.
We’d be happy to discuss the different editing styles with you if you have any questions.
